Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

Overview

Hobbs ("the App") is developed and published by Possisoft ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information in connection with your use of Hobbs on iPhone.

The short version: everything you enter in Hobbs, including your business details and your clients' contact details, stays on your device and in your own private iCloud. Possisoft has no server and no account system, and we cannot see any of it. Invoices are sent by you, from your own mail account or however you choose to send the PDF, never by us. The one thing the App sends us is optional, anonymous usage statistics, which help us understand which features get used, and what the in-app Help fails to answer. They are never linked to you, and you can turn them off with a single tap in Settings. Details are in the Analytics section below.

Information You Enter

To track your time and produce invoices, Hobbs stores the information you choose to enter. This includes:

  • Your business details: business name, contact name, email address, phone number, website, and mailing address, which print on your invoices
  • Your clients: their names, the email addresses invoices go to (including any copied recipients), and their mailing addresses
  • Projects, work types, and the rates you charge
  • Time entries and timer sessions, expenses, and notes
  • Invoices you create, and their status (issued, sent, paid)
  • Your preferences, such as rounding, payment terms, billing schedules, and invoice reminder settings

Some of this is personal information about other people, namely your clients and their contacts. It is stored only where you store it, as described below. Possisoft never receives it.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Hobbs stores your data on your device and in your own private iCloud database (Apple's CloudKit), under your Apple Account. This is what keeps your data in step across your own devices. It is not a Possisoft service: the private database belongs to your iCloud account, only you can access it, and we have no way to read it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. If you are not signed into iCloud, your data simply stays on your device.

On the device, the data lives in a storage area shared between the App and its own widgets (an iOS "App Group"), so the home screen widget, the Lock Screen, and the Live Activity for a running timer can show the project, client, and time involved. That shared area is on your device only and is not accessible to other apps.

Your data is also included in standard iOS device backups (iCloud Backup or a Finder backup), which are governed by Apple.

Sending Invoices

Hobbs does not send email, and you choose how each invoice leaves the App. Send opens Apple's Mail composer with the invoice PDF attached and your client's addresses filled in; the message is sent from your own mail account when you tap Send, and its delivery is handled by your mail provider. Export opens the iOS share sheet, and the PDF goes wherever you send it, for example by AirDrop, to the Files app or iCloud Drive, or to another app. Possisoft never sees the message, the PDF, or the addresses.

Backups You Export

You can export all of your Hobbs data as a single backup file from Settings, and restore from one. A backup file is created only when you ask for it, and goes only where you save or send it. It contains your business, client, and invoice information, so store it as you would any business record.

Invoice Reminders

If you turn on invoice reminders, Hobbs schedules local notifications on your device for the day a client's invoice is due to go out. They are scheduled by iOS on your iPhone and are not sent through any server. A reminder names the client and the billing period, never the amount, because it can appear on your Lock Screen. You can turn reminders off in the App's Settings, or in iOS Settings.

Data We Collect

Hobbs does not collect any personal information and does not require an account or sign-in. The only data that ever leaves your device for us is optional, anonymous usage statistics, described in the Analytics section below.

Data We Do Not Collect

Possisoft does not collect, transmit, or have access to any of the following:

  • Your name, email address, Apple Account, or any identifying information
  • Your business details, your clients, or their contact details
  • Your hours, rates, expenses, invoices, or amounts billed or paid
  • Your location, contacts, photos, or mail
  • Payment or financial information
  • Advertising identifiers (IDFA), and no cross-app or cross-site tracking of any kind
  • Crash reports (unless you opt in to share them with developers through iOS system settings)

In-App Purchase

Tracking time and your first invoice are free. Unlimited invoicing is a single, one-time in-app purchase. All purchase transactions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. Possisoft never receives, processes, or stores your payment information. For purchase-related questions, please refer to Apple's billing support.

So that the free invoice is counted once, Hobbs records that it has been used in a small item in your device's Keychain. Where iCloud Keychain is turned on, Apple syncs that item to your other devices. It holds only a yes/no flag, no personal information, and it is never sent to us.

Third-Party Services

Hobbs does not integrate with any advertising networks or data brokers. It relies on Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) for storing and syncing your data in your own account, and Apple's StoreKit for the in-app purchase, both subject to Apple's Privacy Policy; and on TelemetryDeck for anonymous analytics, subject to TelemetryDeck's Privacy Policy. The analytics service is described in the Analytics section below.

Analytics

Hobbs collects anonymous usage statistics to understand which features are used and to improve the App. This is limited to product-interaction events, for example that a timer was started, a client or project was created, an invoice was previewed or sent, or an onboarding step happened. A few events carry a simple, non-personal detail, such as which timesheet filter was open, which screen led to the purchase screen, or which screen Help was opened from. Each signal also includes basic anonymous technical details such as app version, device model, iOS version, and country/region, and an anonymous identifier that is not tied to your name, email, Apple ID, or any account.

Help searches. When you search the App's Help, the App sends the words you searched for, once the search is finished, along with roughly how many topics matched. This tells us what people look for that Help doesn't answer, so we can improve it. The words are shortened to 40 characters, and a search containing a digit or an email address is not sent at all. Please don't type personal information, such as a client's name, into Help search.

We do not collect your business details, client names or email addresses, project names, hours, rates, amounts, or invoice contents; we do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA); and we do not track you across other apps or websites, or share data with data brokers.

These statistics are processed on our behalf by TelemetryDeck (TelemetryDeck GmbH, Germany), an analytics provider built for privacy and operating under the EU's GDPR. TelemetryDeck is designed so the data it receives is not personally identifiable and cannot be traced back to you. See TelemetryDeck's Privacy Policy for details.

Analytics are on by default and entirely optional. You can turn them off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Send Usage Stats. Turning them off sends one final anonymous signal so we can count how many people opt out, and nothing after that: with usage stats off, the App makes no further analytics requests, on that launch or any later one. If you turn them back on, the App sends one anonymous signal recording that, and resumes as described above.

Copies of Hobbs not installed from the App Store, such as TestFlight beta builds, mark their statistics as test data, so they are kept apart from real usage.

Separately, Apple may collect aggregated, anonymous App Store analytics (such as download counts and crash statistics) as described in Apple's Developer Program License Agreement. We have no access to any personally identifiable information through this mechanism.

Children's Privacy

Hobbs is a business tool and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at hello@possisoft.com and we will promptly address the situation.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your Hobbs data is kept for as long as you keep it, on your devices and in your iCloud account. You can delete individual clients, projects, entries, and invoices in the App at any time.

To remove everything: delete the App from each of your devices, and delete the App's data from iCloud in your iPhone's Settings → [your name] → iCloud storage settings (listed under Hobbs), since deleting the App alone leaves the iCloud copy in your account. Backup files you exported are yours to delete wherever you saved them. Because we never receive this data, we cannot delete it for you, and we hold no copy of it.

The anonymous usage statistics described above cannot be linked to you, so we cannot identify which belong to you. If you have questions about your data, or about information associated with your App Store purchase, please contact us at hello@possisoft.com.

Security

Hobbs does not transmit your business or client data to us. Data synced through iCloud is protected by Apple's iCloud security, and the anonymous usage statistics the App sends (when enabled) travel over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Data on your device is protected by iOS's app sandboxing and your device's own security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
